Texthog Tip: Posting multiple transactions by email

A couple of weeks ago at SXSW, I ran into a dood named Ori Bengal. Ori is a cowboy. He takes to the road in a new ‘old-west’ fashion, cruising from city to city, photographing things for loot and hobby. He writes about his adventures and manages to make a living doing what he loves. After the heated Crowdsourcing panel, we caught up. We talked about Ori’s cool fuzzy hat, and I gave him a funky green shirt.

Anyhow, last night Ori and I exchanged a few tweets back and forth. He mentioned he’s going nuts over his taxes, the fact that he has to rifle through receipts (like most of us), do the spreadsheet thing, and make a run for tax-day. This got me to thinking about one of the wonderful things about Texthog: Posting multiple transactions via email.

Posting Multiple Transactions via Email

We built Texthog with several types of people in mind, one of them being someone that very limited time to track their expenses, but still wants to be in control. With our multiple transactions reporting, you can send one email and it’s all done for you.

How does it work?

The beauty of posting multiple transactions by email is the simplicity. Enter transactions line-by-line in the body area of your email, using the same format you would sending one transaction (tag, tag, amount).

Gas, 25.50

Sushi, Lunch, 34.64

VERY USEFULL!

I wil start using right away.

I encountered on problem. When I emailed from my work (lotus notes) and multi-line email with 4 seperated items as described, they arrived to my account fine. However, they dates and times were all messed up, and some even showed up as occuring tomorrow. Is this Lotus notes or just a Beta glitch?

Great site and keep up the good work!

Looks great for capturing tags and amounts, but is there a way to send the associated category in the email transaction so that the expense will be categorized at the same time?
